How To Keep Your Style Sexy & Sophisticated

I have a question: Do you find yourself sexy? That's an important question that I think every person should ponder at some point in their life.

  • If you do - that's awesome! I'm so glad you have identified that within yourself; just don't get crazy with it or anything.
  • If you don't, then I would encourage you to think about why you don't and how you can perhaps change that perspective.
  • If you're not sure, then that highlights an area of opportunity. I invite you to explore an answer as you read through this blog.

Do I find myself sexy? Sure I do - but that was not always the case, and the reason why I do find myself sexy may not be the same as why others may think so. For me, it's a combination of the attitude that I carry and the style that I hold. Of course, having a fit body doesn't hurt at all, but that isn't everything. As I've gotten more in touch with who I am as a person and learned to love myself for all that I am, I've found ways to embrace and express my personal sexiness. One of the main ways is obviously through fashion, and in doing so, I find that sexiness is best exuded through a touch of class and sophistication.

Shopping A Specific Style

When I want to buy clothes to help me display my sexier side, I usually go to Guess - they're one of the few places that have men's pieces that lean a little more flashy, but are still quite chic. Some of my previous posts feature these kinds of items, but with this look, it's ALL about Topman. If you've been reading recently, I've started developing a bit of a crush on Topman - it was love at first shop. Among all of the looks that I've crafted from there, this outfit would have to be my favorite by far. When I saw this lace shirt . . . captivation! Like seriously, I have literally never seen a men's shirt like this in a mainstream store before.

Of course, when I see shirts like these, I take a moment to think about a few things. I first think about if it is even a realistic purchase and would I actually wear it. Then I think about how this would make me come across and if I can handle that (yes, I do think about what others think, just a little). And if after all of that I find that the price is manageable, then I usually go for it. In this case, we see that it passed the test. Now, before I digress about the shirt, let me quickly recap all of the pieces. So we have the shirt, necklaces and bowtie from Topman, the simple and clean pair of navy blue slacks from H&M to match the top, and then my luxurious black Chelsea boots from Rodd & Gunn. The shirt honestly led the way for this outfit - I bought it first, and given how much I wanted to make sure it worked (especially for a blog), I bought the accessories and pants to help coordinate a complete look. Swish swish - another one in the basket.

The Ingredient For Flyness

Alright, can we please talk about the top and accessories in more detail?! I feel like the weight of the fabric and the way the shirt is designed is a bit more masculine than a simple lace shirt. The way the skin glows underneath the pattern just screams sexy. BUT, that's not all that this is serving. I strongly believe that the floral pattern paired with a very well tailored button-down shirt design makes this piece very classy as well. It's that essence of style right there that had me sold on this shirt. And to take things to the next level, I had to accent with some simple black necklaces for detail and a stunning feather bowtie for some extra flash.

I feel like a standard bowtie would have worked for this look, but wouldn't have done justice - the shirt definitely deserves more than that. After I got my wooden bowtie over the summer (which I still need to feature in a blog look this season) and received so much positive feedback, I knew I had to add some more creative items like that to my collection. A colleague had turned me onto to feather bowties, which completely changed the game for me. I had assumed I would only be able to get one online, but what would you know, I just happened to stumble upon one when getting this shirt from Topman. Match made in haven. So while the shirt says "I have arrived," the flair of the feathers in this bowtie finishes the statement with a confident "You're welcome."

Understanding Your Formula

So if you couldn't gather from my babble about this outfit, my formula for sexiness = confidence + sophistication. I'm confident enough to wear things that I believe complement my personality and body, and I do so in a way that I believe still highlights the sophistication I uphold as a gentleman. How about you  - what is your personal formula for sexiness? Is it your attitude, your thought process, or perhaps some points of your physique? Whatever composes your definition, stay true to those elements. The more that you uphold the purest parts of your identity and your brand, the easier it is for you to hold your head up high in peace, happiness and style.
